Our recent Frey Ranch Bourbon Social brought together bold bourbon, incredible food, and a room full of guests moving, mingling, and connecting over something special.
We were honored to welcome Colby Frey, owner and head distiller of Frey Ranch Distillery, along with Susan Hwang, Commercial Director for National Accounts and Control States. Having them in the room transformed the evening into something far beyond a tasting, it became a true behind-the-scenes look at one of the most respected grain-to-glass distilleries in the country. Special thanks to our bar manager Andrew, our Southern Glazer Wine & Spirits family, and of course, Frey Ranch Distillery!
A Walk-Around Tasting of Frey Ranch Bourbons
The bourbon lineup had a presence the second you got your first pour. Those single barrels coming in between 121 and 126 proof had that deep, warming intensity that makes you slow down for a second… then immediately go find someone else to share it with. The Farm Strength Uncut had people coming back for another taste, trying to pin down what they were picking up. The Straight Bourbon grounded everything, smooth, balanced, the one you kept revisiting between our talent Mixologist Steve’s variety of cocktails made with Frey Ranch bourbons!
Somewhere between the proof and the pours… let’s just say a few Uber rides may have been secured before the night was over.
Chef Understood the Assignment
Guests built their own pairings as they went, grabbing a bite here, circling back there, finding what worked for them.
The charcuterie kept drawing people in. The steak board stopped people in their tracks, house-aged ribeye, Kansas City strip, and that tomahawk sitting right in the center was a showstopper! The honey chili crisp wings disappeared almost as fast as they hit the table. The ribs held their own against every pour. And somehow the pimento cheese kept ending up on everyone’s plate.
By the time the chocolate truffles made their rounds, the night had settled into that perfect rhythm where no one was checking the time!
Each element was designed to complement the high-proof bourbons while allowing guests to build their own perfect pairings as they moved through the space.
